The Road Company is looking for non-equity actors for its upcoming production of “A Christmas Carol” (A small stipend will be paid based on opening night sales.)
 
Auditions for A Christmas Carol at The Road Company Theatre will take place on Sunday, August 10th and Monday August August 11th with Callbacks on Wednesday, August 13th at 405 S Main Street, Williamstown NJ, 08094. Please complete and submit this form prior to your attendance at the audition.
  
Rehearsal Days: Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays
Performance Dates: November 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, Dec 4th, 5th, 6th.

16-32 Bars in the style of the show.  Please bring sheet music in the correct key for the Music Director.
*If auditioning for the Children's Choir, children (ages 8-15) may prepare a song of their favorite Christmas song.
 
SYNOPSIS:
Alan Menken's "A Christmas Carol: The Musical" follows the classic Dickens story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly and bitter old man who is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve: the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. These spectral encounters force Scrooge to confront his selfish ways and the consequences of his actions, ultimately leading him to embrace the spirit of Christmas and experience redemption.
 
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Scrooge (Age: 45 to 65;Tenor: Ab2-G4) - A man who lost his father to creditors as a kid and has grown up heeding his father's advice to save his money. Until he realizes how terrible he's become, he is A grumpy, unsympathetic man and has no time for anyone or anything.
 
Bob Cratchit (Age: 30 to 40;Baritone: B2-E4) - A father and husband who cares deeply for his family, particularly his youngest son. He works hard to provide for them but is mistreated by his employer, Scrooge.

Mrs. Cratchit (Age: 30 to 40; Mezzo: B3-E5) - Tiny Tim's mother and Mr. Cratchit's wife. She is a loving mother who tries to provide the best for her children with what she's got.
 
Tiny Tim (Age: 9 to 12; Treble/Boy Soprano: Bb3-D5) - Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit's youngest son. He is crippled and sick, but is the definition of loving Christmas spirit. He constantly reminds his family that as long as they all have each other; they will be happy.
 
Fred (Age: 25 to 35; Baritone: A2-E4) - Scrooge's nephew and only living relative. He is a pleasant young man who believes in the good a joyful Christmas spirit can make in the world.
 
Ghost of Christmas Past/Lamplighter (Age: 20 to 60; Tenor/Soprano: Eb-G) - An ever cheerful, sprightly ghost who comes back with the history book of Scrooge's past to show him the events that led to his current state.
 
Ghost of Christmas Present/Sandwich board man (Age: 25 to 45; Tenor: Bb2-G4) - A jovial, larger-than-life ghost who comes back to show Scrooge all the joy, love, and celebration he is missing out on while those around him celebrate Christmas.
 
Ghost of Christmas Future/Blind Hag (Age: 30 to 65; Soprano: Db4-Db5) - A beautiful, and terrifying wrath, the Ghost of Christmas Future is strong and silent as she shows Scrooge what will happen to him and those around him if he continues down the path he is currently treading.
 
Jacob Marley/Young Marley (Age: 45 to 55; Tenor: B2-Ab4) - Scrooge's former business partner who, before his death, was exactly like Scrooge. Comes back as a ghost in chains to warn Scrooge of how his life decisions will bind him in the afterlife.
 
Emily (Age: 18 to 25; Soprano: B3-Bb5) - Scrooge's fiancé from when they were young. She is a beautiful girl, not impressed or in need of money.
 
Sally Anderson (Age 21 to 35; Mezzo: C4-C5) – Fred’s wife. Tired of inviting “UNCLE SCROOGE” over for Christmas dinner each year.
 
Mr. Fezziwig (Age: 40+; Tenor: Bb2-B4) - A jolly man who used to throw a huge Christmas party every year for the community. He was Scrooge's first boss and after teaching him all he knew; he became deeply disappointed in the man Scrooge became.
 
Mrs. Fezziwig (Age: 40+; Soprano: A3-A4) - The consummate hostess and Mr. Fezziwig's wife, she loved to help throw the Christmas party every year.
 
Mr. Smythe (Age: 25 to 35; Tenor: C3-C4) - recently widowed and left with a young daughter, GRACE. Hopes Scrooge will be lenient and give him time to pay his debt.
 
Grace Smythe (Age: 8 to 12; Db4-Db5) - the young daughter of MR. SMYTHE. Accompanies her father to ask Scrooge for leniency following her mother’s death. Small featured role.
 
Charity Men - (3 Males) – A trio of Charity Collectors a la Salvation Army bell ringers (harmonized trio) (tenor / baritone / bass)

Ensemble - doubling includes Young Scrooge, Scrooge's Mother, Bankers, Street Vendors, Ghosts, Clerks, Children's Choir
